Staying Updated on Cloud Security Trends

Introduction
Let’s get the obvious out of the way: With the sheer volume of resources available and the rapid pace of changes in the cloud security space, it can be both overwhelming and challenging to stay up to date. After many iterations, I found a system that works well for me.
My System
I prefer having everything in one place, so I use RSS feeds to aggregate content from various sources. RSS apps are dime a dozen, but I wanted something simple, clean, and minimal (being free would be a bonus). After trying out a few, I settled on Feed Flow
. What it has going for it is that it is open-source, has a decent & clean UI, is easy to use, and is entirely free. I can sync my feeds across devices using Dropbox. I scroll through my feed timeline about ~1-2 times/ two days, reading the shorter articles and saving the longer ones for later on my reading list.
Blogs and Newsletters
My current list of blogs and newsletters is as follows. All these are nicely aggregated in my RSS app.
- Chris Farris
- tl;dr sec
- Last Week in AWS
- CloudSecList
- infosec.rodeo
- One Cloud Please
- High Signal Security
- AWS Security Digest
- Public Cloud Security Breaches
Slack Groups
Being a part of a community is a great way to stay updated. These are the places where you usually hear breaking news first, opinions from experts, and discussions on the latest trends. Plus, sharing jokes and memes with fellow nerds is always fun! I love being a part of the following Slack groups:
- Cloud Security Forum - This is place for the
fwd:cloudsec
community. - Last Week in AWS - Corey Quinn’s takes are pretty insightful and entertaining.
- Global Midwest Venture Partners/Cyptocatz - This is the OG Slack group with wise sages and all the cool kids. Note: Membership by invitation only
